EPIC TITAN'S HISTORY
Epic Titan: A Timeline of Inspiration and Triumph
March 2013 – The Arrival of a Legend
Epic Titan, better known simply as Titan, is born. Sired by NRHA Hall of Fame stallion Colonels Smoking Gun and out of NRHA Hall of Fame mare Princess In Diamonds, Titan shocks Clinton with his presence. “Nothing like saying, ‘Here I am, world!’”
In just a few months, he is sold to a couple dreaming of reining glory, setting the stage for a remarkable journey.
July 2014 – Early Setback
Titan suffers a pasture accident. The injury isn’t life-ending, but it threatens to derail his reining career before it even starts. Clinton refuses to give up. He buys Titan back and works closely with Dr. Reese Hand and the ESMS team to restore him to full health, determined to give him the chance he deserves.
June 2015 – First Steps Under Saddle
Titan is started under saddle. Despite being six months behind other 2-year-olds, he quickly rises to the top of the class. From the moment he climbs onto Titan’s back, Clinton knows this horse is exceptional. “Not only does he have phenomenal athletic ability and a willing attitude, but he has that special something that sets great horses apart – heart. He’s easily the most talented horse I’ve ever trained.”
December 2015 – A Story Told to the World
Clinton releases a groundbreaking training documentary chronicling Titan’s journey from colt to reining athlete. It’s a first of its kind, sharing not only how-to training information but the struggles, triumphs and the bond between horse and trainer.
November 2016 – Patience Over Ambition
Titan is progressing, but not yet ready for the NRHA Futurity. Clinton faces a critical decision: push him to perform and risk his well-being, or wait. True to his values, he chooses Titan’s health and future over immediate recognition. “At the beginning of our journey, I promised I would only show him if he was ready. He wasn’t ready, and he deserved better than being pushed prematurely.”
January 2017 – A Strategic Partnership
Clinton recognizes his own schedule with Downunder Horsemanship won’t allow Titan to reach his full potential. He seeks a trainer who prioritizes long-term success over short-term gains and sends Titan to Andrea Fappani, a friend who at the time was a three-time NRHA Futurity Champion and Five Million Dollar Rider.
Under Andrea, Titan begins preparing for the 4-year-old Wild Card Reining Challenge in Las Vegas.
April 2017 – Another Test of Patience
Weeks before the Vegas event, Titan shows subtle signs of discomfort. Andrea and Clinton act swiftly, discovering a minor stifle injury. Career-ending? No. Worth risking? Absolutely not. Titan is brought home and evaluated by Dr. Hand and the ESMS team. He’s prescribed hand walking and swimming to help him recover. All the while, his welfare remains the top priority.
January 2018 – Back in Training
Fully recovered, Titan returns to Andrea’s training program, stronger, healthier and more determined than ever.
March 2018 – First Victory
Titan enters the show ring for the first time and wins the Cactus Reining Classic Open Derby with a score of 233.5, proving his exceptional talent and winning the hearts of fans.
April 2018 – Rising Stardom
At the NRBC, Titan earns co-reserve champion honors in the Open Finals with a score of 225.5. The stallion’s popularity skyrockets—he is no longer just a hope; he is the fulfillment of every expectation.
May 2018 – A Strategic Campaign
Clinton partners with Michael Miola and the legendary Silver Spurs Equine to campaign Titan, ensuring the stallion’s talents are showcased on the biggest stages.
July 2019 – Level 4 Success
Under Andrea Fappani, Titan scores a 229.5 in the NRHA Level 4 Open Derby, earning reserve championship honors and cementing his place among the elite in reining.
May 2021 – A Legacy Secured
Silver Spurs Equine becomes full owner of Titan. His career as a stud flourishes, and the horse who overcame early setbacks continues to inspire with his talent, heart and enduring legacy.
